Q. What is the best course for a beginner looking to get into deer stalking?
A. The Proficient Deer Stalker Level 1 (PDS1) is the only nationally recognised and accredited deer stalking qualification in the UK, making it the clear and undisputed starting point for anyone serious about getting into deer stalking. It is formally accepted by the Forestry Commission, NatureScot, and all UK police forces, and is also widely recognised across Ireland and other European countries.
PDS1 provides the essential foundation in safety, legal compliance, deer biology, ethics, and best practice, and is the benchmark qualification expected by landowners, employers, and authorities. If you want to start deer stalking properly, responsibly, and with qualifications that are respected everywhere, PDS1 is the correct first step.

Q. Does the Shooting & Hunting Academy offer practical training/experience?
A. We are ultimately an E-learning Platform. However, having been developed by industry experts we understand that for certain qualifications it is imperative for you to demonstrate your practical ability and experience before being awarded a certificate. Courses such as the LANTRA Proficient Deer Stalking Certificate PDS1 & LANTRA Airgun Proficiency Course APC have a practical assessment and must be complete and signed-off by one of our Approved Verifiers before the certificate can be awarded. If you are unsure if the course has a practical assessment element, please check the course information page and if unable to find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Q. For how long do I have an access to the courses that I have purchased?
A. Once you have purchased the course, not only do you have a lifetime access to the course and can re-visit it as often as you like, you will also be notified every time we update the course with a new legislation or new modules or classes. We believe that there is always more to learn, therefore we constantly aim to improve and expand our courses with relevant and up to date information and learning activities.
