The course has been designed for those individuals who work in areas where they may be presented with, or manage, firearms 

and/or explosives, be it deliberately or unexpectedly, on a regular or even infrequent basis.


As such, those individuals are likely to need to make sensible real-time risk assessments, and/or provide informed safety or security decisions; these individuals may even provide appropriate guidance to others, such as those who provide advice relating to applications for the grant or renewal of firearm, shotgun and explosive certificates.
In terms of any specific audiences, these may include Police Officers, Firearms Enquiry Officers, Gunshop Operators and their Staff, those staff within Airports, Seaports and even Train stations, where they may be handling or managing firearms, ammunition, or hazardous freight, including explosives. The course is also applicable to Storage and Courier organisations, allowing effective risk assessment of storage and handling routines, and in particular compliance with the law and insurance requirements.

In general terms, this course provides awareness training across a number of specialised domains. This allows government entities and/or private companies to bring their staff competency and safety up to an auditable professional standard. Through a series of taught modules and assessments, this course aims to introduce and enhance the student’s specialist knowledge, understanding, and capability in the Firearms, Ammunition, and Explosives domains, including:
